Better Belize It

Our Belize travel route Belize The second last country on our backpacking adventure, Belize is small but very beautiful.  💰 Belizean Dollar (£1 = BZ$2.6 / $1 = BZ$2) ATM Caves  Sadly not full of money, the Actun Tunichil Muknal Caves are meant to be incredible and well worth a visit. Belize City It's generally worth avoiding the capital cities in Central America - they're either not particularly safe, or just not as interesting as the rest of the country. Belize City is, however, where you get the water taxi to...: Caye Caulker Caye Caulker is a great wee island, that somehow has a China Town, despite only being about 5 miles long / 1 mile wide. We stayed at 🏡Dirty McNasty's, which has fab free breakfast and rum punch, but don't stay here unless you are guaranteed one of their newer rooms - their older rooms are just dirty and nasty.  - 🏡 Bella's across the road is better. Guatemala There's far too much to say in one blog, but this beautiful country is definitely not one to miss. 💰  Quetzal  (£1 = Q10 / $1 = Q7.3) Adventuring Acatenango in Antigua Fuego Volcano erupting Antigua ( the city, not the Caribbean island Dad) is a beautiful colonial town with colourful buildings, great markets,  terrible nachos , and the famous Acatenango volcano hike . People will tell you this is the hardest thing they've ever done in their life, and yes, it was hard, but if I can manage it anyone can.  Struggling up the 3600+m / 12000+feet of ashy volcano was so so worth it when we made it to camp and got to watch a thunderstorm and erupting Feugo Volcano from up in the clouds, singing  Fernando by ABBA round the bonfire with our ball-of-energy guide Fernando. 🏡 - Tropicana Hostel View of Fuego from Acatenango San Pedro Piercings in Lake Atitlan Lake Atitlan Beautiful lake surrounded ...
